The National Trust of Jersey have been running these concerts for a few years now and this year a record breaking crowd watched the concert on a warm summer’s evening.
The wonderful natural amphitheatre at Grantez, with it’s amazing views over St Ouen’s Bay, is the perfect location for these open air concerts and help to raise awareness of the Trust’s efforts to safeguard Jersey’s amazing natural beauty. All money raised from the Sunset Concert went to the Coastline Campaign to restore and protect our maritime heathland and coastlines.
Families arrived early to grab a good vantage point and settled down to enjoy a leisurely evening picnic, but it didn’t take long for the crowds to arrive, all 3924 of them, a record!
The Orange Circus Band, a full blooded Americana bluegrass act from the UK and Virginia, gave us a brilliantly entertaining show and had everyone up on their feet dancing.
A family band including members of all ages, Granny Alice n’all, who told us about how the traditional songs originated from the Blue Ridge Mountains. A foot stomping evening was had by all, yeehaa!
