My fragrance of the month is the new Eau de Parfum ‘Izia’ from Sisley.
I’ve been wearing Izia for the last few weeks since it’s launch at the beginning of February and although not normally a rose fan, I love it. Memories of wandering through my grandmother’s rose garden here in Jersey come flooding back. The creator, Isabelle d’Ornano was similarly inspired by a distinctive rose that grew on her family estate in south eastern Poland.
Izia, short for Isabelle in Polish, is very much a family affair with Sonia, Isabelle’s niece, as the face of Izia along with Isabelle’s daughter, Christine, in charge of the beautifully curated advertising campaign.
Top notes of Calabrian white bergamot, spicy hints of pink pepper and floral aldehydes combine well the elegance of the rose accord, giving way to the base notes of powdery musk, cedar and amber. After a few hours the scent has developed into a rich, velvety and modern sensual warmth that lasts for 10-12 hours.
Perfumer, Amandine Clerc-Marie has accurately recreated the natural character of the rose and in doing so has formulated a modern and very lovely fragrance in my opinion.
The bottle, created by Polish sculptor, Bronislaw Krzysztof, feels very tactile and the rose colours of the glass shimmer as if in the evening sun of the rose garden.
